Opioid Detox in Los Angeles
Physician-supervised residential detox in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles

Opioid withdrawal is rarely dangerous in the way alcohol withdrawal is. It is something else: so relentlessly miserable that most people who try it alone go back to using to make it stop. That is not weakness. It is what withdrawal is designed to do, and it is why supervised detox with the right medication is the difference between getting through it and not.
Revive Detox provides physician-supervised opioid detox in a six-bed residence at 101 N. La Peer Dr. in Beverly Grove, between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. We detox people from fentanyl, heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, methadone and kratom, along with other opioids. Care is supervised by our Medical Director, with a nurse practitioner, licensed nurses and clinical staff involved throughout each stay, alongside trained recovery support staff.
In network with Aetna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, UBH and Health Net. Most PPO plans accepted. We verify your benefits before you commit to anything.

What Opioid Withdrawal Is Like
Opioids suppress pain, slow the gut, calm the nervous system and produce a sense of well-being. Regular use teaches the body to expect that. Remove the opioid and every one of those systems swings the other way at once: pain everywhere, a gut in revolt, a nervous system on edge, and a low that feels bottomless.
When it starts and how long it lasts depends on the opioid. Short-acting opioids like heroin and oxycodone tend to bring on withdrawal within a day of the last dose, peaking around the second or third day and easing over about a week. Longer-acting opioids like methadone start later and last longer. Fentanyl is its own case: because it accumulates in the body, withdrawal can be delayed, prolonged and harder to predict than people expect, which is one reason so many fentanyl detoxes fail at home.
The acute phase is followed, for many people, by weeks of poor sleep, low mood, low energy and cravings. That is expected, it does pass, and it is the reason detox needs to hand off directly into treatment rather than ending at the front door.
How Opioid Detox Works at Revive
Assessment on arrival
Which opioids you have been using, how much and by what route, when the last dose was, whether anything else is in the picture (alcohol, benzodiazepines and stimulants are common alongside opioids), your medical history and current medications. Vital signs and a withdrawal scale give the medical team a baseline.
Medication to make withdrawal bearable
Opioid withdrawal can be managed with medication, and our medical team uses it. Depending on the assessment, that may include a medication-assisted treatment approach that eases withdrawal directly, along with comfort medications for sleep, nausea, cramping and anxiety. What is prescribed, and for how long, is a medical decision made with you, not a fixed protocol.
Monitoring around the clock
Symptoms, vital signs and fluid intake are checked regularly, day and night. Six beds means no one is waiting for a nurse.
A house, not a ward
Food prepared for a body that has not been eating, a quiet bedroom, a garden, and when you are ready, the living room where our meditation, music, PEMF and red light sessions happen. Nothing is required of you during the worst of it.
The handoff
Before you leave we agree on what comes next: residential treatment here in the same house, continuing medication-assisted treatment, or a program closer to home. For opioids especially, detox without a next step is a setup for relapse.

One Thing Everyone Leaving Opioid Detox Should Know
After detox, your tolerance drops fast. A dose that was normal a week earlier can be fatal, and this is when overdose risk is highest. We say this plainly to every person and every family before discharge, because it is the single most important piece of safety information in opioid recovery. Naloxone (Narcan) reverses opioid overdose, is available without a prescription in California, and anyone who lives with a person in recovery should have it and know how to use it.
Fentanyl, Heroin and Pain Pills
The substance matters less than people think once withdrawal starts, but it changes the plan in a few ways:
- Fentanyl is now in most of the illicit opioid supply in Los Angeles, including pills sold as oxycodone or Xanax. Many people arrive dependent on fentanyl without ever having chosen it. Its slow clearance from the body means the timing of medication has to be handled carefully, and we plan for a longer, less predictable withdrawal. More on our fentanyl detox and withdrawal treatment.
- Heroin withdrawal follows the classic short-acting pattern: fast onset, hard peak, easing within a week. See our heroin detox page.
- Prescription painkillers such as oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine often begin as legitimate treatment for pain. Detox has to account for the pain that is still there once the opioid is gone, which is a medical conversation, not a willpower one. See pain pill detox.
- Kratom acts on the same receptors and produces a genuine opioid-type withdrawal that is often dismissed because kratom is sold legally. It is not dismissed here. See kratom addiction and treatment.
Who Opioid Detox Is For
Anyone who has tried to stop and could not get past the second day. Anyone whose use started with a prescription and did not end with it. Anyone using fentanyl, knowingly or not. And anyone who has detoxed before, relapsed and then been told that means they failed. It does not. It usually means the detox ended without a plan.
If you are also living with depression, anxiety, trauma or another mental health condition, our dual diagnosis approach treats both together. Chronic pain is treated as the medical issue it is.
