The Rhythm of Recovery™
Physician-supervised residential detox in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles
Detox is medical work first. A physician sets the plan, licensed nurses watch it through, and nobody at Revive would tell you a breathing exercise replaces any of that. But withdrawal is not only chemical. People arrive carrying years of things they have never had a safe place to put down. Medication supports the physical process of withdrawal, but recovery asks us to care for more than withdrawal alone.
The Rhythm of Recovery™ is what we built to make space for that part of healing. It is a daily practice of meditation, breathwork, sound and music, PEMF, red light therapy and restorative meals, taught in small groups and practiced together in an intimate six-bed residential setting at 101 N. La Peer Dr. in Beverly Grove, between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. It runs alongside physician-supervised detox, never instead of it.
The individual practices matter, but the rhythm matters more: slowing down, reconnecting with the body, practicing regulation, and learning that discomfort does not have to be escaped.

"There is a mind-body connection. The Rhythm of Recovery gives us different ways in—ways to reconnect with the body, make room for what we’ve been carrying, and begin to release it safely."

Why the Body, Not Only the Mind
Talking helps. Every client here has access to counseling, and it matters. But Dr. Calvert has spent nearly two decades watching what talk alone leaves behind.
"Sitting and thinking your very deep thoughts and talking about them all the time is great on some levels. But on other levels it can really not offer that sense of release in the same way that therapeutic techniques can."
The idea behind the program is simple to say and hard to do: trauma, grief, anger and fear get held in the body, and the body needs its own way to let go. Music, rhythm and breath give it one. So does light, and so does the quiet of a room with the phones off.
"Sometimes we're holding our breath and we don't even know it."

The Practices
Meditation and breathwork
The first thing most people learn here, and the one they take home. Guided and short, repeated daily until it stops feeling strange.
Sound and music
Live and recorded sound in the music room, with instruments anyone can play. "We're all made of frequencies. Music and rhythm bring the heartbeat and the breath into sync. It feels deeply rewarding, that release that comes."
PEMF therapy
A pulsed electromagnetic field mat in the wellness room. A session is lying down and being still, which for someone in withdrawal is its own accomplishment.
Red light therapy
A panel in the same room, used in short sessions. Quiet, warm, and one more reason to be off your feet and out of your head for twenty minutes.
Restorative nutrition
Detox is hard on a body that has often been running on very little. Meals here accommodate individual needs, with a focus on restorative nutrition, and they are eaten together.
None of these is a treatment for addiction on its own. They are practices that give the body something to do with what it is carrying, while the medical team handles the withdrawal.
Skeptics Are Welcome. The Founder Is One.
"I'm a skeptic too. I'm part of an industry where someone waving around a feather and calling themselves a guru isn't uncommon. That's not what this is about. This is very real people with very real knowledge who have been doing this for a long time. The reason they believe in it, frankly, is because they see it work."
You do not have to believe in any of it to try it. Most people who arrive at Revive are certain the PEMF mat will do nothing for them. Some of them are right. The practices that stay with a person are usually the two or three they did not expect.
What It Is For
"I know I have this thing. I know it's been here for this long. I can tell you where it started. I can tell you what it feels like, but I don't know what to do with it."
That sentence, in one form or another, is what most people bring through the door. The Rhythm of Recovery™ is not an answer to it. It is a set of ways to sit with it long enough to put it down.
"It's all different paths to get to this feeling of serenity. Pockets of time that open up where you're able to breathe through and release what it is that you've been carrying."

Alongside Medical Care, Never Instead of It
Every admission at Revive is physician-supervised. Care is supervised by our Medical Director, with a nurse practitioner, licensed nurses and clinical staff involved throughout each stay, alongside trained recovery support staff. Withdrawal is managed with evidence-based medication, monitored around the clock, in a licensed and Joint Commission accredited residential detox.
The program lives inside that. Nobody is asked to breathe through a symptom that needs a nurse. Nobody is handed a sound bowl instead of a taper. The medical team decides when someone is ready to join a session, and the sessions are built so that a person on day two can sit in the back and do nothing but listen.
Six Beds, On Purpose
"We keep things intentionally small. It's highly, highly individualized attention. You're not one of many."
The program works because the house is small. A meditation group of four is a different thing from a lecture hall of forty. The staff know who slept and who did not, who is angry today and who is finally hungry. "It's not a sterile clinical feeling. It's a feeling of being welcome home."

"Nobody really makes it through alone. We were never meant to walk home alone."Dr. Ronaye Calvert
